Even after tough match, Chicago is Julian Nagelsmann’s kind of of town

You might expect former Bayern Munich coach and current German national team boss Julian Nagelsmann to be a little wary of Chicago after his team lost an important player for the World Cup (Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl ) and scuffled its way through a 2-1 tune-up victory over the United States.

That is not the case, though. Nagelsmann seemed to like the town and the management of the event in Chicago, even though it is technically not a World Cup host city.

Sky Germany captured some of Nagelsmann’s reaction to the atmosphere in the Windy City:

“That’s a good introduction to the weather conditions,” said national team coach Nagelsmann. Although Chicago isn’t a tournament host city, it “already felt a bit like the World Cup” to him. This included the typical American spectacle, complete with a slightly delayed flyover by a squadron of planes above the arena.

Chicago, indeed, is a great town, but maybe Germany will be eager to get back to base camp and regroup after a tough weekend.
