Georgia’s season, however, rolls on: the five-run victory sends the Bulldogs into the super regionals, where they’ll face the winner of the Starkville bracket. The Bulldogs haven’t been to Omaha since 2008, and every extra game keeps their first College World Series appearance in 16 years alive.

The incident overshadows a clutch moment, but the run Phelps sparked carried Georgia past Liberty and into the next round. The team’s momentum matters more than the theatrics, even if the theatrics stole the spotlight.
