NBA All-Star ‘hated’ playing Warriors with Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant

Andre Drummond shared his experiences competing against Stephen Curry and Kevin Durant when they teamed up with the Golden State Warriors . The two-time NBA All-Star center played for the Detroit Pistons then and faced the dynamic duo multiple times.

Curry and Durant created arguably the best one-two punch in the league in the 2010s, joining forces from 2016-2019. Their partnership delivered back-to-back championships and three consecutive Finals appearances. Durant departed from the Warriors and signed with the Brooklyn Nets .

Drummond appeared on N3on’s YouTube channel on Monday. He admitted that he “hated” playing the Warriors as they effectively made traditional centers irrelevant in the NBA.

“I hated playing them,” Drummond said . “I would sleep a day early just for that game. They changed the NBA and made it very hard for centers to stay around. A lot of people fizzled out not being able to shoot the 3 ball.”

In June 2025, Drummond picked up his player option with the Philadelphia 76ers. He signed it for the second year of his two-year, $10 contract that he secured in the previous offseason. He will enter unrestricted free agency after this campaign, leaving his future in the league uncertain.

The 32-year-old entered the NBA as the No. 9 pick in 2012. While he has proven that he can still defend and rebound against the league’s best centers, more teams have embraced the youth movement. It remains to be seen if he will generate interest around the league, but he could still contribute significantly to a title contender.
