It’s not often that a team feels a sense of relief when one of their most high-profile players is traded to another team, but it sounds like that’s exactly what some Eagles players were feeling after superstar wide receiver A.J. Brown was traded to the New England Patriots .

In the aftermath of the high-profile trade that sent Brown to the Patriots to reunite with head coach Mike Vrabel, who coached him during his time with the Tennessee Titans , a few Eagles players had some strong reactions to the move, including at least one player who expressed relief.

While Brown is a star wide receiver who never had fewer than 1,000 receiving yards during his time with the Eagles, he did bring a lot of drama to the team during his final season as he criticized the offense and appeared to want out.

Now, that’s all over, bringing a sense of relief to at least one player.

“I think this is more of a — it sounds terrible — but like, thank God it’s over. It was a slow pain of just, is he in, is he out?” left tackle Jordan Mailata said via ESPN . “We didn’t really know, and that really wasn’t our focus as a team, our team, especially on offense.”

The biggest thing now is that the team can finally move on and prepare for the season without the distraction hanging over their heads.

“Yes, we can move on now,” Mailata said. “I think most of us that have been here the last six weeks, we have moved on, just from, we have enough to worry about.”

While there may be a sense of relief that the situation has finally wrapped up, that doesn’t mean Brown’s teammates are universally glad to see him go, at least from a personal perspective.
