USC baseball’s 2026 season recently came to an end . However, as the offseason begins, there is still plenty of news surrounding the Trojans .
On Monday, the list of attendees was announced for next week’s MLB Draft Combine. Two USC players earned invitations: star pitchers Mason Edwards and Grant Govel.
Edwards finished the season with a record of 8-0 and an impressive 2.07 ERA. He struck out 169 batters, the most by a USC pitcher since Mark Prior in 2001. He was named the Big Ten Pitcher of the Year and earned first-team All-American honors .
Govel wrapped up the year with a 10-3 record and a 2.87 ERA. He was named a second-team All-American. Although just a sophomore, Govel is eligible for the MLB Draft because he will be 21 by next month, when the draft will take place.
Edwards has a legitimate chance to be USC’s first first round draft pick since 2009. Govel, meanwhile, is likely to be selected in the middle rounds of the draft.
In addition, USC commit Dustin Dunwoody earned a combine invitation. Last week, the Trojans made headlines when they flipped Dunwoody, one of the top Southern California recruits in the class of 2026, from Arizona .
If drafted, Edwards, Govel, and Dunwoody will have to decide whether to sign and turn professional or return to/enroll at USC. With this being the NIL era, the Trojans will likely find themselves needing to match what the team that drafts each player is offering in order to keep them.
The 2026 MLB Draft Combine will take place from June 23-26 at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
