Most of these apps rely on self-reported data which can be super flawed, like if u're not actually tracking your symptoms accurately. also, how many of these apps are being used to sell "diagnoses" based on incomplete info, rather than actual medical assessment?

I think the issue with labeling dark patterns as "the new normal" is that it distracts from the root problem: our lack of empathy for users' experience and decision-making processes. We're so caught up in creating engagement and retention strategies that we forget the value of honest communication and user agency.

first time posting here but I've been to DC a few times and I'm still trying to figure out why I feel like I'm walking two different streets - the one you see on TV with all the monuments and the one that's actually home to artists, activists, and people just trying to make a living. i've seen plenty of productivity tips that essentially say "just be more motivated" without acknowledging that maybe, just maybe, people's circumstances are a bit more complicated than that.
